Amanda (Shih-Han) Lu, LMHC-D
Therapist in NYC and Seattle that speaks Mandarin Chinese
WELCOME
I’m Amanda,an Asian therapist in NYC and Seattle.
Maybe you’ve spent a long time simply getting through things—and now you’re ready for something different.
Therapy can be a space to breathe, reflect, and make sense of what you’ve been carrying.
We’ll explore your story, your patterns, and the parts of life that don’t come with easy answers.
You don’t have to have all the answers before you begin.
We can explore where you’ve been, understand where you are, and explore where you want to go.
Together, we’ll create space for a way forward that feels more like you.
Maybe you've found yourself saying...
“I wish I could just not feel this way”
You might not even know exactly why you feel the way you do. You just know that you're tired of feeling sad, angry, anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected—and you wish you could turn it off.
“I don't know who I can really open up to”
You may have people in your life, but still feel like there's no one you can fully be yourself with. Maybe you're used to keeping things to yourself, protecting others from your feelings, or figuring things out on your own.
“My emotions feel like too much”
You might not even know exactly why you feel the way you do. You just know that you're tired of feeling sad, angry, anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected—and you wish you could turn it off.
“Why do I keep ending up here?”
You may notice the same patterns showing up in your relationships, your choices, or the way you respond to yourself. You understand what you should do, but knowing isn't always enough to create change.
“I feel stuck.”
Maybe life looks fine from the outside, but something inside feels unsettled. You want something to be different, but you're not sure what that “different” looks like—or where to begin.
This is where I can help.
Therapy is not about telling you how to live your life. It’s about creating space for yourself to slow down, understand what’s happening underneath the surface.
Therapy helps with building stronger connections with ourselves, being able to break out of repeating patterns and start making choices from a place of greater clarity and true autonomy so that we don’t need to feel “controlled by our emotions.”
How do I help with that?
I don't believe you are a problem that needs to be fixed.
I believe there is usually a story underneath the way we think, feel, and respond to things, and understanding that story can change the way we move through life.
My role is not to tell you who you should become. Me as a therapist is here to help you understand where you are, make sense of what brought you here, and create space for something different.
